Loftus Versveld Sports Stadium
Loftus Versfeld Stadium is a sports stadium in the heart of Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa. The stadium has a capacity of 51,762 and is an all seater venue. Loftus stadium was named after Mr Robert Owen Loftus Versfeld, the founder of organised sports in Pretoria, a man committed to the task of upbuilding sports in South Africa.
Loftus Versfeld is set to undergo a multi-million rand facelift - including a roof over the east stand - to prepare it for the 2010 Soccer World Cup and could become the standard bearer for all stadiums for the tournament.
Found very close to the city centre and central to public transport, Loftus is the biggest soccer stadium in Pretria. It will be the first venue upgrade to be completed for the Soccer World Cup in 2010 with upgrading been done in all areas, with comlpetion set for the end of 2007.
