Willem Prinsloo Agricultural Museum
The Willem Prinsloo agricultural musuem is found in Rayton, on the Kaalfontein farm. Once belonging to Ms Miertjie le Roux (nee Prinsloo) the farm has been transformed into a museum, and is a great day outing for families, as well as educational for school groups. Willem Prinsloo, Mierjie's great grandfather, had owned a farm in Modderfontein which he sold to a mining company once gold was discovered, and used the money to purchase Kaalfontein. Ms Le Roux inherited the farm and lived in the 1800's dwelling till 1976, thereafter donating 16 hectares to the National Cultural History and Open-air Museum after her brothers detah in 1976. The museum then purchased the adjacent farm, housing the 1913 and 1927 homesteads as well.
Willem Prinsloo Museum was officially opened on 26th March 1980. The Museum currently falls under the management of Ditsong Museums
